Albany (/ˈɔːlbəni/ (listen) ALL-bə-nee) is the capital of the U.S. state of New York and the seat and largest city of Albany County. In the latter share of the 20th century, Albany experienced a fall in its population due to urban sprawl and suburbanization; however, the New York State Legislature endorsed a $234 million building and renovation set sights on for the City in the 1990s that spurred renovation and building projects just about the downtown area.
